Rough parts of the canal construction site are asphalted

Since august of last year, canal construction work has been underway between amtsgerichtskreuzung and the city’s parish church. An asphalt crew has been on the job since yesterday. Until friday, 18. October, it is to rebuild the trench and sidewalk surface in von-hessingstrabe and the adjacent parts of salinenstrabe and maxstrabe. For this time the concerned area is closed for the traffic.

The city bus lines impeded by the full closure – i.E. All lines that travel from berliner platz in the direction of garitz – are being diverted through the fubganger zone (ludwigstrabe). This is causing resentment among cab drivers in bad kissingen, who are not allowed to use this detour. A driver points out that they had to take detours of up to 20 minutes. For the customer, the cost of the trip increased from six to twelve euros.

Engineer hans-ulrich hobfeld hopes asphalting work will be completed on time. "The weather forecast for this week was catastrophic", he says. In heavy rain, asphalting is not possible because "otherwise construction damage is inevitable" are. However, he expects traffic to flow through von hessing strabe again on saturday morning.

Construction is currently underway in the area of maxstrabe east, i.E. From the district court to hemmerichstrabe. "There, the civil engineering work will run for four to six weeks", reports hobfeld. It is expected that at the beginning of november drivers will have to prepare for the next obstacle: the intersection of max- and hemmerichstrabe will be widened. "We can guide the pedestrians through, but we have to close the whole area to traffic", he emphasizes. However, it will be ensured that all adjacent businesses can continue to be served.

The last construction phase is the area between the post office and the fire tower, where the last sections are being laid. Kabel deutschland will also excavate 60 meters of ludwigstrabe in the near future to install conduits for telecommunication cables in the ground. All construction work is to be completed this year.
